SETTLED IN GOD

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SETTLE?

To settle means to place in a fixed or permanent condition; to make firm ,steady, or stable; to establish; to fix, to establish in life; to fix in business, in a home or the like. another meaning is to; to cause to be no longer in a disturbed condition; to render quite; to still, to calm or to compose. It can also be determined as something which is exposed to doubt or question; to free from uncertainty or wavering; to make sure firm or constant; to compose to quiet; as to settle the mind when agitated. to settle questions of law, to settle the succession to a throne or settle an allowance. When we decide to settle in God, all the  above are the things we  receive from the Lord.

SETTLEMENT ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE

In Exod. 3: 7-8 Divine settlement  according to Exodus means to get compensation from God. it is a process of experiencing deliverance from our challenges or struggles. it mean for God to take one out of a negative situation and place in a land flowing with milk and honey. The children of the Israelites were in great distress, afflictions, oppression and agony from the Egyptians, the Lord harkened to their cry ,delivered them and led them to their promised land. The process might be challenging but surely, God settled His chosen ones.

TO BE SETTLED IN GOD ACCORDING TO ISAIAH  26:3

According to prophet Isaiah to be settled in God results in a "perfect peace" . The steadfast of mind by Isaiah are those who like Abraham of old, had faith to be settled in God. The storm of life rage, the battles around goes on, and evil flourishes, but the faithful have perfect peace. That peace encompasses peace with self, with God and with others. Faith in God is the only thing that brings inner peace to man. When faith clutches the promises of God, peace is made with God. Before this, life is filed with self reliance toward God. Only when one is at peace with self and with God, can he have peace with others. Only a mind settled in God can tolerate the changing circumstances of life.(Gen. 20; 14,15) God settled Abraham in the land of Gerar in the best land and caused Abimelech the king to favor him and gave him much goods ; sheep oxen, male and female servants. when there was again famine in the days of Isaac, God again settled him in  Gerar in Philistine to Abimelech the king. Isaac sowed in that land and harvested a hundredfold, received much blessings  and prosperity until he was envied because God had settled him.. when God settled one, the abundance of His blessing makes one have many enemies.( Gen 26). In (Gen 34:10) Jacob had favor from Hamor king of the Hivite to settle in the land trade and acquire possessions for himself. (Gen. 35;1-3) God commanding Jacob to dwell in the land of Bethel, built an alter to the place where He appeared to Him when he ran away from his brother Esau. v.3 "Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will make an alter there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone." It was so because God had settled and prospered him. There is  an all round rest when God settled us. When Jacob and his family went down to Egypt, because of God's favor upon them, they were settled in Goshen in the best land in Egypt. God gives us the very best when He settled one.(Gen. 45:10; 46:34; 47:4,6)

STRANGES FOR A PURPOSE? (EXODUS 1:11-22)

Long before the children of Israel came to Egypt, Abraham received a remarkable revelation from the Lord (Gen 15:13-16) his descendant would be strangers in a foreign land and would be enslaved and oppressed for four hundred years. The sojourn in Egypt would be necessary because " the iniquity of the Ammonite is not yet complete. their full measure of justice, His own people would experience the oppression of the Egyptian nation. Affliction took the form of harsh labor imposed upon the Israelites, as well as a policy of infanticide. The promise of God to His people is that He is ever present with them in an  unusual way in their suffering. " In all their affliction He was afflicted" (Is. 63:9). At the time when Israel's afflictions became unbearable they cried for help, and God responded in faithfulness to His promise. Jesus tells us in (John 16:33) that, "These things I have spoken to you, that  in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. This only applied to those who are settled in God.

GOD'S SETTLEMENT ACCORDING TO THE PSALMIST

The Psalmist tells us that for us to settle in God, we must trust in the Lord and do good. He will settle us therefore, feeds on His faithfulness. Just as His word forever settled in heaven, the same manner whatever He promised us will surely come to pass if we worry not (Ps. 119:89). To delight ourselves in Him and He in return give us the desires of our heart( Ps. 37:3-4; 78:55). The Lord drove out the nations with His hand, planted His people but afflicted the nations and cast them out from the presence of the children of Israel."For they did not gain the possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm safe them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them.(Ps. 44:2-3)  When heaven and the earth and the hosts of the sea, praises God, He will save Zion and rebuild the ruined cities of Judah that they may dwell there and possess it.  Also the descendants of His servants shall inherit it and those who love His name shall dwell in it.( Ps. 69:35,36) there is settlement in God when we praise and love Him. The Lord also promised David the continuation of his servants children and to establish their descendant before him. and makes a city for a dwelling(ps. 102:28; 107:36) And this is the promise to those who settle in God,"For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, lest the righteous reach out their hand to iniquity" This assures us of God's protection when we decide to settle in Him.

THE DIVINE SETTLEMENT

Apostle Peter tells us in his Book that," May the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you."(1 Pet. 5:10) As it quoted by the Psalmist, sorrow may come for a while but joy comes in the morning. Therefore my beloved brethren, it is ok for the child of God to suffer a while, but after the suffering comes God's glory! The glory that God from the beginning had planned for us. God never planned shame or reproach for any of us as His children; but only glory because He is a God of all glory! In this season of settlement; forget about the uncertainties and the pandemic and put your focus in God and get ready to see your problems terminated in the blink of an eye even to the ones that seem to be like a rock; because our God is the God of all impossibilities. (Luke 18:27) Without doubt and with faith in our hearts lets authoritative declare the goodness of our God in our hearts bearing in mind that His answers are Yah and Amen.

Dear brethren, receive that power of God that gives wisdom and understanding that will lead you into your divine destiny. No more struggle in your life as God is bringing you to a place of rest and comfort in Jesus name Amen.

"Grace to you and Favor from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all Amen."
