WISDOM THAT WORKS!!!
WHAT IS WISDOM?
Wisdom is a comprehensive knowledge that is put into
practice. The foolish man lost in the babble of his confused insight, will be
victimized by his own thoughts and words. The man who seeks Gods wisdom is
always the wise man. History is rampant with illustrations of intelligent
people who had a pattern of seeming success, when suddenly a series of wrong
choices or decisions led them into glaring failure. This can be explained only
in recognizing that human wisdom is inadequate to the needs and problems of
mankind. If God’s Word is read and believed, if God’s mind is sought, if God’s
will is obeyed, and the counsel of godly parents, and teachers is followed,
then God’s wisdom will meet and answer questions, problems, and needs. That
kind of wisdom is authoritative, clear and direct.
SOURCE OF WISDOM:
1. Wisdom is received as a gift from God; For God gives
wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight. From His mouth
comes knowledge and understanding. God harkened to the plea of king Solomon in (1Kings 3:11-12) Then God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and
have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies,
but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice; behold, I have
done according to your word; see I have given you a wise and understanding
heart, so that there has not been anyone like you, nor shall any like you arise
after you." (Daniel 2:21) says, And He changes the time and the season; He removes
kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those
who have understanding." (James1:5) says; "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask
of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given
to him."
2. Wisdom is received as a gift from the Spirit: (1Cor
12:8) for to one is given the word of wisdom through the same Spirit, to another
the word of knowledge through the same Spirit. (Ephesians 1:17) says; that the
God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give you the Spirit of
wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.
3. Wisdom starts with the fear of the Lord. (Job 28:28);
And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to
depart from evil is understanding.” (Psalms 111:10); The fear of the Lord is the
beginning of wisdom, A good understanding have all those who do His
commandments His praise endure forever. (Psalms 9:10); The fear of the Lord is
the beginning wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy one is understanding.
4. Wisdom come from listening to the wise: (Proverb 1:2);
To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding will
attain wise counsel. (Proverbs 4:1-11) says, “HEAR, my children, the instruction
of a father, And give attention to know understanding; For I give you good
doctrine: Do not forsake my law, when I was my father’s son, Tender and the
only in the sight of my mother, He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your
heart retain my words; keep my commands, and live .Get wisdom get
understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not
forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her and she will keep you.
5. Wisdom comes from research and education: (Ecclesiastes
1:13) And I set my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all that is
done under the heaven; this burdensome task God has given to the sons of man,
by which they may be exercised. (7:25) I applied my heart to know, to search
and seek out wisdom and the reason of things to know the wickedness of folly,
Even of foolishness and madness.
EXPRESSIONS OF WISDOM:
1.
Wisdom serving as craftsman: (Exodus 28:3) So
you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit
of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments, to concentrate him, that he may
minister to me as priest.
2.
Wisdom as following God’s law: (Deut 4:6); Therefore be careful to observe
them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the
peoples who will hear all this statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is
a wise and understanding people.’ (Hos 14:9) Who is wise? Let him understand
these things, who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are
right. The righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumbles in them. (Matt 7:24-25) “Therefore whoever hears these
sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken to a wise man who built his house
on the rock: the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat
on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
3.
Wisdom as interpreting visions and dreams: (Dan 2: 23,30); “ I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given
me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of You, for
You have made known to us the king’s demand.” But as for me this secret has not
been revealed to me because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but for our sakes
who makes known the interpretation to the king, and that You may know the
thoughts of our hearts.
4.
Wisdom as defending the Good News: (Acts
6:3,10); Therefore brethren, seek out
among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom,
whom we may appoint over this business. And they were not able to resist the
wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.
5.
Wisdom as exercising patience: (Prov 19:11);
The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a
transgression.

ways are crooked, and who are devious in their paths; To deliver you from the
immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words, who forsake the
companion of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God. For her house
leads down to death, and her paths to the dead; None who go to her return, Nor
do they regain the paths of life-
